Our Results
There has actually been only one A level failure at Bartholomews since summer 2003. Our percentages achieving grades A or B at A level and those achieving grades A, B or C at GCSE in recent years are as follows:
| Year | A level pass rate (grades A – E) |
A level (grades A / B) |
GCSE pass rate (grades A – C) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2005-06 | 100% | 48% | 91% |
| 2006-07 | 100% | 50% | 79% |
| 2007-08 | 100% | 49% | 78% |
| 2008-09 | 100% | 55% | 76% |
| 2009-10 | 98% | 57% | 77% |
Candidates re-taking A levels will be advised on the number of units they should attempt in order to gain the grade increase they require. Given a well-motivated student without serious syllabus complications, we would expect at least one grade improvement per A level on a one-term re-take course. Improvements for those on one-year courses, and occasionally also on one-term courses, have sometimes been quite spectacular.
